To aid helpers in solving download/upload problems, LimeWire and Frostwire users must specify whether they are downloading a torrent file or a file from the Gnutella network. Members need to supply these details >>> System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) Moderators There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. | Every time i open up limewire , first thing that happens is strangeactivity-143-109 browses my library but never takes a song or mp3 ; i can not browse his files because he has that blocked for some reason ; should i take any action ?? |

| Most likely it will be a BOT! There are BOTs that browse new hosts to the network to investigate their details. I have not been using the network much of late so don't know that one by psuedo name. I think I hinted to you before about finding those who are or who have connected to you. MaOSX has Console which gives a big clue to all hosts connected to LW via its firewall activity stats of who it allows, listing their address, date & time. I found most browser BOTs of the kind you suggested are either Japanese or have an ip address starting with 50.x.x.x I normally add them to the LW blocklist when I've realised they are consistent as you suggested. They normally browse you within the first 5 mins of connecting. Some may browse robotically every 10-20 mins thereafter, but LPE does not show that (LW4 did.) |

| I'm not a windows expert, but there is Netstat. Sleepless suggested Wireshark, but as I commented earlier, this program has a definite learning curve to it. LW 5 hides uses psuedo names instead of listing the address. The numbers are usually the last digits in their real address. Unless I'm mistaken, LW 5.3.6 does give option to find their ip address but cannot remember if that only applies to downloads or also uploads. ie: right-click the file & choose View Info & then the Transfer tab. I think FrostWire & WinMX both allowed you to see their ip address. Might need to enable that in the upload window table view column options. |

-This release of LW Pirate Edition is for Windows OS x86.
-Increased number of connection from 5 to 10 when not an ultrapeer.
-Replaced the ugly splash screen of the metapirate LW Pirate Edition.
-Updated LimeWire.exe to work with Java 1.7.
-Removed the code that deletes the Gnutella.net if 30 days old!

One other thing that stuck in my mind was the Linux version had no problems opening directly with Java 1.7, but both the Windows & MacOSX versions did/do. So this change might mean a slightly slower connecting time but a much more reliable connection process.) Installer/uninstaller with firewall rule addition or removal for the program. Not sure what the GTK-Gnutella & Phex devs would think of a leaf with 10 peers. This will mean a much greater demand for more ultrapeers to cater for it. If there are no more ultrapeers to cater, then it will mean peer slots will be harder to find for those first connecting to the network. Just thought I'd point out this simple logic. I suspect you will find the ratio increase in search results compared to increased peers for a leaf is not very large. Still many people around the world (even in Western countries) who still use dial-up connections. Connecting to 10 ultrapeers would probably mean higher bandwidth 'Overhead' & thus less bandwidth available for downloading or uploading. If I got to the point of compiling, personally I'd have renamed the application & removed all references to LimeWire & changed the logo, due to LimeWire being copyright & under a court distribution restriction in the USA. BTW I suspect it might have been a good option to zip the file instead of offering it as an exe download. Also not sure why the download link is sub-linked to social media sites instead of a plain simple download. I'm not a member of any of those social sites. |

| Lord of the Rings, After reading your post above I downloaded the WireShare source code and migrated my fix-ups to it. I removed all references to LimeWire & changed the logo as you suggested. I also changed to leaf connections back to 5 (I don't want to upset the GTK-Gnutella & Phex devs) and added the firewall exception to the installer. If you pm me what the specifics for changes you would like made and where in the code it is located, I would be happy to incorporate them.
