 I'm not a windows expert, but there is Netstat. Sleepless suggested Wireshark, but as I commented earlier, this program has a definite learning curve to it. LW 5 hides uses psuedo names instead of listing the address. The numbers are usually the last digits in their real address. Unless I'm mistaken, LW 5.3.6 does give option to find their ip address but cannot remember if that only applies to downloads or also uploads. ie: right-click the file & choose View Info & then the Transfer tab. I think FrostWire & WinMX both allowed you to see their ip address. Might need to enable that in the upload window table view column options.  |

| Below is a link to an updated version of LimeWire Pirate Edition based on the metapirate source. Code: ChangeLog:
-This release of LW Pirate Edition is for Windows OS x86.
-Increased number of connection from 5 to 10 when not an ultrapeer.
-Replaced the ugly splash screen of the metapirate LW Pirate Edition.
-Updated LimeWire.exe to work with Java 1.7.
-Removed the code that deletes the Gnutella.net if 30 days old!

If there are no more ultrapeers to cater, then it will mean peer slots will be harder to find for those first connecting to the network. Just thought I'd point out this simple logic. I suspect you will find the ratio increase in search results compared to increased peers for a leaf is not very large. Still many people around the world (even in Western countries) who still use dial-up connections. Connecting to 10 ultrapeers would probably mean higher bandwidth 'Overhead' & thus less bandwidth available for downloading or uploading. If I got to the point of compiling, personally I'd have renamed the application & removed all references to LimeWire & changed the logo, due to LimeWire being copyright & under a court distribution restriction in the USA. BTW I suspect it might have been a good option to zip the file instead of offering it as an exe download. Also not sure why the download link is sub-linked to social media sites instead of a plain simple download. I'm not a member of any of those social sites. |

| Lord of the Rings, After reading your post above I downloaded the WireShare source code and migrated my fix-ups to it. I removed all references to LimeWire & changed the logo as you suggested. I also changed to leaf connections back to 5 (I don't want to upset the GTK-Gnutella & Phex devs) and added the firewall exception to the installer. If you pm me what the specifics for changes you would like made and where in the code it is located, I would be happy to incorporate them. | One of the changes I forgot to mention because this is not a priority, is to include the security blocklists install option & connection file during the WireShare installation process. This would remove the concept of separate installers for these options. As it is, the Security blocklists I included with the LPE installers has 5 options: 1. None 2. Strong 3. Strong-basic Japanese blocklist. 4. Light 5. Light-basic Japanese blocklist. All these 5 options also included the installation of the connection file & basic settings files. The basic settings files include preset answers to installation questions such as system startup, anonymous reports sent to LW, bug reports, word filters, etc. The gnutella file I provide for installation or connection problems is considerably large. |

| LOTR, Below is a link to my current installer of WireShare. I am new to using 4shared but I believe only premium member can use direct download links. This was complied using Ant and the 1.7_51 JDK. It also installs the strong version of your hostiles.txt and a gnutella.net files. We can add the ability to choose the different security levels to the installer in the future. Let know when you are ready to play and I will zip up what I have and send you a link and yes my knowledge of OS's other that Windows is very limited. | That's excellent BigJx.  I was suffering same issue until I logged into my 4Shared account, then the download became the WS zip download. I was forgetting 4Shared is a member's only direct download site & I needed to be logged in. Just one thing, for the hostiles file to work, there needs to be a text line in the props file that tells the program where to find the hostiles. So the previous mentioned security installer installs a props file with basic information including that line. (The security updater on other hand inserts the necessary line of text into the person's existing props file in case it does not already exist.) Hope that doesn't sound complex. I could forward you the necessary files when I return from this trip. I won't install WS just yet as this is not my computer lol. But I've got a copy of it now. |
