Default Blocking Downloads

I am using Limewire so that I can transfer files between my two computers (which I can't do any other way since they are in different countries). How can I block others from downloading from my shared folder?

Don't know how well this would work but, you could set LW to only allow 1 slot for uploads. In LW go to Tools>options>Uploads>slots, and set Max Upload Slots to 1, click apply.

Then you'd have to physically set there and wait for your friend to connect to you(you'd need to know their ip address). If someone else connects to you, just kill their upload until your friend connects.

Naturally you'd have to set up a time before hand when you'd both be online. That's the only way I can think of. To my knowledge you can't setup a private connection with LW.

As an alternative, you could winzip each of your files with a password so it would not matter if your files were uploaded by someone else because they could never user them.

An even more secure method would be to use PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) encryption on your files, here is the URL: http://www.pgpi.org/

Either way should give you the protection you are after. Just remember that to get the kind of security you are after will take a bit of work on your part because, as 6_Pac hinted, there is no quick security fix.
