Gnotella: no details on mp3 files

On the Gnotella web site, they say that this client shows the total time, bitrate and sample frequency of mp3 files. They even show a screenshots where this feature is visible under the "file type" heading...

I have installed version 9.9, and all I have under file type is "mp3". This is not enough. Why does it not work as advertised?
Is there a way to display the missing information?

One way is to download the user's webpage which might have the info on it. Another way is to begin downloading the song and then open it right away while it is downloading. The MP3 player will display the bitrate.

Ugh, that kinda irks me...

I was so hoping a client would do this, but instead made a fake feature in the screenshot.
maybe it was pic while they were testing it, didn't work right and the pulled it out...

Actually the bitrate feature does work, but you'll only see it in results from others using Gnotella with the feature enabled. The next version will have on with the option removed so all Gnotella clients will return MP3 information and will expand to onclude info on other file types soon. Encourage your friends to use Gnotella, you'll see more bitrate information with the more people using Gnotella.

Odd, I have yet to see that additional detail for mp3s. Guess more ppl need to download the newer version...

I've seen the feature a few times, the thing that makes me mad is the total time of the MP3 itself needs to be shwon more often.

I think it would make it the ultimate Gnutella client if that function will somehow work all the time.

BTW, whats with all these Gnutella programs having spyware in them? They dont really need it...

Bearshare is the only client right now that has spyware in it. It uses Onflow which is a common spyware program that can be detected and removed by Ad-aware. Download this, its free. I think the Bearshare authors also released a program to remove the Onflow registry entries. Check their forum on that. You might want to check your other freeware progs at the link below. There are hundreds of spyware infested programs.

Simply posting the specs for this extension makes this feature available for all clients that want to implement it. That way people will get better results and it will prevent others from designing incompatible alternatives. Otherwise Gnutella might become one protocol with 1000's of different additions that crash other clients.
