Question Sharing a CDR?

Has anyone had any luck sharing their CD drive?
I have a CDR with a ton of files I could share, but haven't had any luck with Gnotella.

I tell Gnotella in the config menu to share the CD and everything is fine for a couple minutes, (the file names show up in the Monitor window) but Gnotella crashes the second the CD drive spins down.

To make a long story short (in case you're actually not kidding), what you should do if you want to share your CD's is to copy the entire content of the CD to the "Gnotella shared files" folder(which you should have created), and .zip or .rar the program(s) on it, so that the program is in one file which we can download.

Hope that helps.

Cool Gnot kidding Gnotman

OK, here's the concept:
Why should I clog-up my hard drive with files I want to share when I can share a CDR instead? I can also rotate the CDs to offer something different everyday.

I have a CD with 4000+ wav files on it that I certainly don't need taking up space on my hard drive. I also have CDs with a LOT more songs on them stored in the mp3 format instead of the usual 12-15 audio tracks a CD will hold. I back-up the mp3 files I collect on CD in case of a hard disk crash anyway, why not be able to share them?

I already wrote the author about adding CD drive support to future a future version of Gnotella. I invision the program storing the directory of the CD in memory, then when a person selects a file off the CD for upload, the file gets copied to a temporary directory on the hard drive until it's done with the transfer.

Wow, I wish I had a CDR that could hold 4000+ .wav files!
(well, I guess I do, but then it would be about 5,7 seconds per song/sound on average)

-But I guess the CD sharing COULD be done. I just haven't really thought about it before.
