Gnotella 1.0 Released Well here it is, its been awhile since 0.9.9 was released, but I really think 1.0 is worth it. If you are using 0.9.9, drop everything and goto http://www.gnotella.com and get 1.0. The new features and tweaks are too numerous too list, a quick peek includes big improvments to memory and cpu usage, downloads with resuming across hosts automatically, upload reporting.... Anyways, hope you all try it out, tell all your friends, their grandparents, etc. If you have any problems there is an updated helpfile, new FAQ so I hope it all goes, well ,let me know. shaun |

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent - Shaun! What a joy to play and use your new baby V1.0 it is indeed. Everything in it which I find important, such as: - No Spyware! - Upgrade On/Off option - Netname specify (If other than 'Gnutella Connect...' - Firewall icons on search results, man that is great - Bandwidt throtteling - Windows resizing (never worked before on my 800x600) - Download resumptions, multiple hosts etc. - And and and - so much more, as you say. Now this must be the best client now. Low CPU usage, about 90 percent less then V0.99. How'd you do that? And thanks for getting rid of this strange aFildDB.exe, which caused all the CPU and several instances running problems. Ahhh - its a delight. Now open a bank account in most countries and ask people to donate 5 dollars or more if they can (no credit card use please) and you will be richly rewarded! Greetings JD |

Gnotella 1.0 On the whole it's a lot better. Still has a few problems for me at least... 1) After running awhile it *still* slows to a standstill. Doesn't happen right away - perhaps some sort of resource not being released? 2) Show me Hostnames! The cutesy BearShare rip-off icons are fine but useless. I want to see who's *really* connected to me. 3) Searching for new hosts is nice but a bit awkward. I don't like how it changes the search setting for other search slots too (I have to keep setting them back). Also it doesn't limit the matches very well (needs an exact size match) or remember the original search term (even though you think they should, some client won't find the same file given the full name). |

Yup - just wanted to add my own happy comment It seems to work a lot faster than 0.9.9, and I love the feature to ignore full servers and firewalled hosts(even though I am firewalled myself). It seems it's finally working the way I had hoped the network would work.(a lot of work in that sentence!) Oh - and this site is now loading a lot faster and more reliably than before since the move to the new server! So thanks for that too! |

V 1.0 Great - But Sloooows down after a while... I love it. It's everything you promised! Just a couple of notes: 1. After about an hour, it creeps to a halt. System resources are fine (75% free) but somehow when I minimize or restore it takes forever to think about it when there are downloads or uploads going on. 2. Mini mode is my favorite. Takes up minimal desk space with easy to read icons. (Except the down arrow icon doesn't work) 3. In the Help files - there is no description of what the little purple and green N means... sometimes the dots are green, sometimes their purple.... is there a method to the madness? So, you got the big stuff taken care of. It works good! It's the little things I point out.... |

Great work Shaun I have tried several other servents and yours is the best so far. One question...other clients have had some problems releasing/killing old sockets no longer in use.....how did you solve this??? All in all this program kicks @$$.......great work |

Hi Shaun: This release is very good & faster but I can only get it 2 work on Windows 98 s/e. I get solid errors on my Windows 95 OSR2B systems. got any suggestions. I know 95 is getting kinda dated but i find it runs better in some ways on my aging hardware....Thanks....BT..... |

1.0.0 BAD Some Gnotella Client is trying to resume a file download since hours EVERY SINGLE SECOND! The interesting point in this is that i don't use ANY Gnutella Client at all, i just have the bad luck to have a dynamic IP Address. I even gave them a "HTTP 404" but NOTHING seems to stop this.
