Default Trouble With New Gnotella?

The partial screenshots, alone, of the new Gnotella, made my mouth water. So...

I downloaded the new Gnotella. I installed it and, every time I try to run it while online, I get this error...

----------------------------------------------------------
GNOTELLA caused an invalid page fault in

I won't pretend that I even begin to understand what all that gobbledigook means. I just thought that somebody else might know and may be able to help me figure out what is going wrong.

Anybody else had this error?

I don't know too much about this honestly, but from what I've found, the msvbvm60.dll file is a "Visual Basic 6.0 run-time" file.

As a general rule when it comes to invalid page faults though, I found this quote:

Quote:
Invalid Page Faults and General Protection Faults in Kernel32.DLL are often caused by a lack of system resources, out of date video drivers, or a corrupt swap/paging file.
You'll have to post a few system spec's to make it easier(maybe) to troubleshoot.

(Windows version[if using Windows], amount of RAM, Processor, graphics card and so on)

Default Details Included: Sorry!

Yep! I wasn't thinking too quickly when I left those out.

Cyrix 300 (No...seriously!)
256 mB SDRam
Windows 98SE

And, my video/graphics card is a real antique...

It's an old 2 mB S3 Virge (I never do games, so I need nothing better...yet! That's my excuse!)

I think I should add that, during the installation, I was asked did I want to replace a file and I think that THAT file DID begin with, or include, the letters "VB"; I honestly don't recall. I didn't want to replace that .dll and have Gnotella working well and then find that several other programs have stopped working as well as they did, or have stopped working at all.

Which VB Runs do I need to run the new version of Gnotella?

I have checked, and I have that file on my comp too, and Gnotella is working fine.
I'm running WinME though.

You have enough RAM, but the processor and graphics card is lacking. It could be a problem. But I really don't think so.

You could run the System File Checker, which will check if any of your important files have become corrupted somehow.

Press Start/Run/ and type:

sfc

and hit Enter, and I think you'll get the checker.

It doesn't work that way on ME, so I'm not entirely sure.

Then if the file is corrupt, you can extract a new one from the Windows CD(or maybe find one on the web).

Hope this helps/works.

This crash is usually caused due to the machine never having had the Winsock2 Update (and possibly the Winsock2 Y2K update)
