Firewall Problems Installed Gnotella today and made 1300 high quality MP3s available, but I can see that there are no uploads. I also have a personal firewall utility, but have granted Gnotella full rights to receive from and send to the internet. Any one any ideas how to setup Gnotella/firewall to allow access to my files?? I'd like to give as well as take from the network! Cheers |
S'Ok, fixed it myself. The firewall was preventing echo requests and replies (as these where for ICMP not for Gnutella itself). Now working fine and seeing lots of uploads ;). As an aside, Gnutella network is meant to be anonymous, but I can see the IP addresses of incoming requests (sometimes with an associated machine name), if this is the IP address of the requestor, how can the network be anonymous - or have a missed a crucial point? Cheers, Jon |
Jon, If there is one thing Gnutella isn't, it's anonymous. If you're offering some pretty exclusive copywrited stuff don't be surprised if your ISP gets a letter from someone in the music or motion picture industry. |
