To turn off XP theme for a program: right click on the program name in the start menu. Select properties. Click the compatability tab. Check the disable themes box. Ta-dah!

I got the same problem here... but if I disable Windows XP Visual Theme for Gnotella (in the properties of Gnotella shortcut), it works fine!

Default Fix for setup in XP (Home or Pro)...

>>I can't get it to setup after downloading it it starts to setup but when it gets to java set up it just shuts down I,am running full version xp pro<<

You need to download the Java Plugin for XP, regardless of what version. Microsoft made a big stink about including Java in XP because they've been fighting with Sun over the specs (too open and free-flowing for Microsloth).

http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html

About 5.5MB download... it will self-install, no restart is necessary (don't you love having 2000/XP?!). After that, run the Gnotella setup!

I've also used the Java version of LimeWire (sucks in comparison to Gnotella) with perfect results.

Angry WINDOWS XP CRASH

Gnotella 1.0.5 opens fine, finds the hosts, and even finds "hits" when I search. But after a few moments, I get the "Gnotella must close now" window and then shuts down. MSN dial up is my server. I don't have any idea why it's doing this. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thank you.
