Angry Online stats not what they used to be

When I originally installed Gnutella 2 weeks ago, I used to get online stats showing thousands of hosts. Now, Gnutella usually reports just a couple of hundred. What gives? Are there really that few hosts now? What has changed?

In addition, search results have been non-existent. Any search yeilds no hits.

Help!

Network disruption; this will work itself out in a week or so, as I've been predicting. Basically, I'm guessing there are a TON of newbies on the network who don't know any better and have like 40 connections. Eventually they'll all get pissed off and leave, making it clear for everyone else again. But who even knows in this crazy world of Gnutella :P

the only way ive been able to get connected well is to have like 20 connections... i know ur not supose to do that but it seems the only way to increase your amount of hosts.

I haven't tried gnutella when it was working normally, but I would think that you would get a TON of hosts from only 2-4 connections... but i am having to open a TON of connections just to get a good number of hosts

i'm guessing this is what is slowing down gnutella

If it is that "easy" to get the gnutella-net down by wrong settings, maybe you should think about disabling some of the configuration options in the next version?

(OK, I admit that the Napster-thing is not supposed to happen too often, but think about the chances for gnutella if next time the net doesn't fail)
