Gnotella (Windows) Gnotella has been discontinued. We highly recommend you use an actively developed client instead. |

Auto disconnect from free-loaders... Would like a button to turn on "auto-disconnect from freeloaders" to disallow incoming hosts sharing zero files from connecting to me. Free-loading will be the death of the Gnutella peer-to-peer network. Let users of the Gnotella client, if they wish, force incoming hosts to earn the priveledge by bringing some share-files to the net. |

What the hell... While we're at it let users select a minimum number of share-files before allowing an incoming host to connect. I could pick five minimum files when I'm in a good mood. Or if I'm feeling ungenerous, I could say they must share 1,257 files...like what are in my own share directory. Or maybe set a minimum number of MB of shared files. Whatever. That would be way cool! |

If users are forced to share they would just share their C:\WINDOWS dir or sometthing, which isn't any better. A better thing would be to automaticly share the download directory. To prevent unfinished files from beeing uploaded they could have .tmp on their name until they are finished. |

Goofboy... um no... What you need to do is get freenet! freenet doesn't have this problem... Freenet doesn't have this "network congestion" problem... plus the developers of gnotella SUCK... v0.73 hasn't been updated for eons and needs a bunch of **** fixed. I say **** gnotella and start supporting FREENET www.freenetproject.org |

Well, just one word to "shutdaf***kup" Mr. I-know-everything-better: If you don't like Gnotella, there's three things to do: First: don't use it! Second: Programm your own client (and I guess that one would suck a lot more!) Third: Go crazy like you do - but NOBODY CARES! The idea with disconnecting people who don't share is ok, but: I think it also sucks when people share a dozen 650MB videos and then you find out they're connected with a 28 modem, or they only stay online for one hour once a month! But what really sucks most is sharing all that incomplete stuff (usually directly from the download directory)! |

I like the idea of filtering the freeloaders who share 0 files:everyone can at least share mp3s,even the 56k people. As far as the big files such as movies, we need chat capability for doing horse trades amongst cable users - quid pro quo - it works on mIRC where I've gotten most of my divx and mpeg movies. |

Regarding this original thread's topic about not allowing freeloaders, Gnotella has had that feature for like the last two version now. Go to the leftmost tab, "Hosts", right-click, and lo and behold, there is the option, which is selected by default anyway. |
