Gnotella (Windows) Gnotella has been discontinued. We highly recommend you use an actively developed client instead. |

In the configuration dialog, the "Push Requests", allow infinite number of "Attempts to make to try contact unreachable peers" instead of just 10. This way if the person from a user is downloading goes offline, gnotella will try to resume the file from the same user until he goes online again, this would be great! |

My votes 1) less CPU overhead (I think this is being worked on) 2) Resume from alternate servers 3) Overall cap on upload bandwith (instead of on each connection) 4) A bit more "pie in the sky", but related file grouping ala LimeWire, Phex, and Gnucleus. 5) Really "pie in the sky", but downloading a file from multiple servers simultaneously. Nothing does this yet, but the first to do it will really outpace the others. Possible hint: To make it work better use this strategy. * First connection requests entire file * Second connection requests from 50% to end of file. * Third requests from 25% to end of file * Fourth requests from 75% to end of file. * All requests are made from some starting point to the end of the file (rather than up to the next starting point) so they may continue on if the other connection drops. This works nicely since the thread can abort sooner if necessary. * If a download thread hits the point where another one starts it can a) just stop there or b) continue on if it's much faster than the other thread and would probably beat it to the end (the overtaken connection would be dropped). |

Gnotella Upgrade Wishlist First, there's so much I LOVE about Gnotella. The D/L recovery system actually works and the program is MUCH more stable on the WIN9x platform than my previous Servent (LimeWire). Here are my ideas (in order of priority) on how to make a good thing better: 1. Add a user adjustable TTL (Time To Live) to search inquiries. 2. Change the "Maximium Upload Speed" to reflect the total allocated and not individual user bandwidth. 3. Key upload bandwidth allocation to realtime usage and not averages. Currently, downloads will stall and sometimes die while waiting for averages to fall if the "Maximium Upload Speed" is reduced during their progress. 4. Upgrade the search AI to respond better to complex inquiries (ie: more than 2 key words). 5. Add more search slots (currently limited to 3). 6. Allow server-specific directory search requests by clicking or entering the user's IP address. (Something like Napster's "Hotlist" feature). 7. Freeloader filters. (Yes, I know everyone is asking for this!). |

Main Wishes: 1) Never give Freeloaders a chance !! 2) Timeout function for searches is really a great suggestion. 3) File Download from multiple servers (segmented downloading) 4) option to give a minimum file size when searching 5) remove the afildb.exe (just use too much CPU time) Cosmetic Changes: 1) remove the checkbox for removing Mandragore virus in the Gnotella options. Gnotella should remove ALL viruses by default, without that the user set an option 2) Apply button in the preferences should be invisible until changes are made 3) ability to configure the search filter types |
