not able to download

ok, may be a stupid question, but I can't ever seem to get more than three connections.

I was told by someone that you must have five connections, in order to be able to download items - but as I have said I can only ever get three?

I have updated my list of servers to:

gnutella.hostscache.com
connect1.gnutellanet.com
connect2.gnutellanet.com
connect3.gnutellanet.com
connect4.gnutellanet.com
connect5.gnutellanet.com
gnotella.fileflash.com
public.bearshare.net
connect1.bearshare.net
connect2.bearshare.net
connect3.bearshare.net

but always get the message "waiting more hosts needed" when I try to download something?

any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

james

sorry

You were misinformed. I'm assuming you are connected to three "ultrapeers"? They only dictate how much of the network you are directly connected to (can search). The download depends entirely on the person/persons who actually possess that file you want. You can download connected to even one other node.
If the person you are directly downloading from has full upload slots or has gone off line, you will just have to wait.
Honestly, on Gnucleus, I have found that if you let the file sit in your download screen for a while, it usually completes.

Out of a total of about 100 different files that I have tried to download since I got gnucleus, I have only managed to start downloading 5. Two completed, one is still going, and the other two just stopped in the middle of downloading.

For the other 95 or so files, I get either the message: Waiting, more hosts needed. Or: Waiting to retry in [a number].

It seems I have the same problem as the guy above, someone, please help!!!
