Default Gnucleus wont connect

Bit of strange one this....

My machine crashed (XP Pro), due to some dev work I'm doing - bug found/fixed - but Gnucleuse wont Connect now... All downloads I had going are working fine, but Gnucleus just refuses to connect. The Connect window sits there saying 'Connecting....' but the progress-bar doesnt show any pretty green lights and refuses to connect. Is there a file I need to delete to somat??

Thanks All (Just lazy in not downloading/reading thru source:-)) )

OK Fixed. Delete all contents of Cache files, & .ini then restart. All works fine then. Authors; could you fix this - test it's disaster recovery (ie. PC gets turned off without a proper shutdown).

PS. Gnucleus is ACE! Even with that fault....

I feel bad that nobody seems to be helping you here, M. Try going to the forums at http://www.gnucleus.net/ and you'll definitely get a lot more responses.

Hi, M.....
Sorry I missed your post with bad timing.....
A question for you........ did you try the 'fix' first with deleting .ini only? Or, did you do the both at the same time or the other choice with cache files first?

Lightbulb Got the fix.

I renamed GnuConfig.ini to GnuConfig.ini.txt and suddenly I could connect again. Also, it recreated the file after I changed a couple settings, so don't worry about that.

Clearly there's a problem with GnuConfig.ini getting corrupted. Still, Gnucleus rocks!

Developer dudes, you listening?

Default config probs

My Gnuc just went **** up and wouldn't connect, I followed your info and sure enough I can connect again. I think it's a config problem cos everything was fine until I started to tweek it. I think if you just delete the config file it will solve the problem, Gnuc just defaults to the original setting and creates a new config. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Exclamation General Gnucleus Fault..?

Hello all.
I'm having the same connection problems (using 56k / ver 1.8.4 / Windows XP Pro) and they have NOT been fixed by renaming / deleting cache and ini files! I still have no connection and watch the cache list tick down slowly to 0% and essentially bail out.
I have also reinstalled, and reinstalled on a clean system. No luck so far.
Even better, I can't even raise the gnucleus.com homepage half the time and the forum @ http://216.74.73.125/~c0re/gnuforum/ doesn't load either. Is gnucleus totally falling off the face of the planet?
Any general or technical discussion would be VERY welcome!
Regards, Mat

Default Connect

I found one thing that works for me, and no need to delete the .ini file (and thereby lose a few settings). This worked for me, no guarantees, YMMV, yadda blah blah etc..

Open up preferences, click on "Connect". Make sure "When in Ultrapeer mode" are both checked and have a valid number for them (any number), and "Apply" - should have immediate results. Doesn't matter if you have "Able to become Ultrapeer" checked in "Network" or not. (I leave it as not, since there seem to be more ultrapeers than anything else, and they suck as connections too)
