Question Trouble with Identd in Chat

I've been unable to get the IRC chat functions in Gnucleus to work. Here is what happens:

Gnucleus attempts to connect to each server on the server list in sequence.

The server first looks up the hostname, finds it, and sends an Identd request.

This is as far as I ever get. Normally, when I use mIRC for IRC chat, Identd requests are sent on Port 113. I have port forwarding set up on my router to send Identd requests made to Port 113 to my machine. This works well in mIRC.

I've noticed that in Gnucleus there are no entry fields in the Chat Preferences for Identd information. I suspect that either Gnucleus is expecting Identd requests on a different port, or there has been no provision made for these requests and they are being ignored. I haven't been able to connect to any of the IRC servers because no response is being sent to Ident requests.

Has anyone used the IRC chat sucessfully in Gnucleus, and if so, how do you handle these requests?

I am running Win2k Pro with a DSL connection behind a NAT router and have Norton Internet Security on my machine.

Default What IDENT does

When ever you try to connect to an IRC server gnucleus starts listening on port 113. When a server makes a request, Gnucleus responds and then closes the port.

I just checked the code, and tested it with a few IRC servers, it seems to be working fine for me. Try using a different username other than Gnuke, I have a feeling some servers might be banning it.

Since my original post I have been able to connect to one of the Efnet servers (Prison) and some DalNet servers seem to be working (I had not tried DalNet before writing the original post).

However, in no case do any of the servers report any ident responsealthough some will connect anyway. I have a feeling this is a problem on my end, something about the way I am firewalled, because after further investigation I see that mIRC is doing the same thing. I will look into this and report back if I solve it.
