Default 1.8.4 crashes - fatal exception in Wi***

I just got the Windows95 version of Gnucleus installed and it repeatedly crashes my OS. I upgraded using the evolver to 1.8.4 and it still crashes within 2 min while it's trying to connect.

It says something about a fatal exception OE and it may be able to resume normally. So I press a key like it says and it continues for about 3 seconds before it crashes again. After a few times of this it just locks up everything and I have to do a hard reset.

I've rebooted several times and it does the same thing every time.

Wi***b, upgraded with IExplorer 5.0 (though I don't know why it should matter, but I wasn't able to even install Gnucleus with IE 3.0!) Pentium 1/150 with 128 MB RAM. Dial up 56k modem. Clean system - no other programs running that I know of.

Boy, is this forum dead or what!

Well, I solved my problem, but no, I didn't get Gnucleus running. I got Limewire running instead.

That's too bad, because I used Gnucleus about a year and a half ago and I was real happy with it. I'm sorry to see it falling out of favor.

Oh well, things change I guess.

Default MFC/DLL's

You'll need to upgrade your MFC library files and probably your winsock DLL's as well.

Windows 95 is really bad in its support for using the internet. Of course, Limewire works great because Java takes care of all of the stuff that Windows 95 isn't really built to do.

So, if you really want to use Gnucleus on that OS, try to get every update that you can find. Also, check out official Microsoft updates as well.

Good luck, you'll need it ;p
