Firewall-Problems I have problems with my Gnucleus-Client! Very often, when I start a download, it says "Checking Firewall ..." and then it says "Trying Push", but never starts the download! Can anyone tell me, what I am doing wrong or what the problem is? |
I've got the same problem! Someone please let us know why this is happening. |

you see, it is sometimes difficult to get a response from firewalled users. [Testing firewall] is, as far as i know, this: You cannot ping a firewall (well, you can, but you will not get a response). If you do not get an *ahem* route error and no ping result either, your client supposes the other person is firewalled. So you 'ask' the firewalled client to send ('push') the file to you. But you will never know if you are heard or not, all you can do is to wait. Sometimes *aaarghhh*, ok. Joke question: What will happen if both are firewalled? (*nothing* hihi....) Greetings.... |
Next Version Gnucleus 1.3.4, which I plan to release soon improves upon the user's understanding of what is happening during a download. Trying Push, is pretty confusing for most people. |
I have set up my firewall so that my host is in the DMZ. So far users on Gnutella have neen able to download from me but I have to reboot the router/firewall. I had little luck with NAT settings on my router/firewall. If you are using a software firewall...DON'T. Get a real router/firewall. |
