Blocked ports

I would like to use Gnucleus at work but they've blocked port 6346. Is there any way to connect to the network using a different port, etc.

Re: dummy questions

Yes, very easily. Just enter a different port in the connection config dialog. The Gnotella network doesn't rely on any specific port to work.

In my case, at a university, I'm having the same problem.

The thing is, I can't even connect to the server hosts to download a list of active servers, let alone connect to another computer I know is online. So far no luck, but it appears the latest version has some tools to help me get around this problem. Without any documentation to go from, I can't get anywhere.

Any ideas?

My university actually filters by analyzing the connect string, if it sees GNUTELLA CONNECT in it, it drops the connection. I have gotten around this, but I am not ready for an official release that includes this feature.

It is defined in the source and must be in at compile time.

Make sure gnucleus connects to IRC, it is a good way to find hosts other than iwth the host servers.
