Gnucleus 1.6 Released

Its been a while in development, but its stable now, multi-source downloading works, I'm happy with how its going so this is it.

There's a lot more code that never got into 1.6 though because I've run out of time, 1.6.1 though will offer some more interesting (undisclosed) features. :)

congrats on sucessfull release. thanx.

i somewhat don't understand your reason for withholding list of those "undisclosed" features.
gnucleus is open source, free, and doesn't have any patent technology. what's the point of not telling us about those new features...after all we'll still find out what they are when you do implement them, and it's not like your market competitor will outsell you. improvements in one client will benefit everybody else..and the soon people know about the benefits the faster they can implement them.

uhm.. excitement i guess, its fun to know we're working on making this program better.

The 1.6.1 that was just released is probably, as you figured out already, not the version with the new features. It was a quick fix to a critical problem, expect to see new, 'undisclosed' stuff in 1.6.2.

just to clear it up

Hey swabby, this may seem like a dumb question but the latest gnucleus submits research queries automaticly right?I know a previous version did this but i just wanted to make sure its in the latest?I seen somewhere a couple people complained or asked about the feature and i was sure it was already in gnucleus.I had always been under the thinkin that gnucleus requeries for more sources but havent used it in a while and wanted to just get it clarified. Thanks alot

ps-just to let you know the latest beta youve released has seemed to clear up a long line of freeze up troubles on windows xp for me.The freezes started when the first beta with swarmed/multisourced downloads was implemented.Right now im runnin in compatibility mode for Windows 98/Me and no more freezeups.Previous betas froze up under any compatibility mode including when i didnt even run it in compatibility for another windows O.S.I have yet to take it off compatibility mode because im scared to.haha.Everything is working right and i dont wanna touch it.I couldnt even use gnucleus for well over a month because of the freezing and had to use another client for music.now im back since the freezing is gone for me.Good work and keep it up man

UPDATE:
Ok just tried turning off compatibility mode and running it strait windows xp and it went smoothly until i got a network connection and it frooze up.Not tryin to complain just letting you know there is some sorta issue on Windows xp.If there isnt an issue then maybe there is something i need to update that i dont know about??I do know for sure that gnucleus always chokes up on Windows Xp when it comes to establishing network connections.Basicly when you start to see the number of hosts fillin up its either already frooze on you or its about to.Im goin to turn it back on to compatibility for Windows 98/Me for now. Please let me know anything find out about this. Thanks again

Make sure you're not running Zone Alarm, it destroys gnucleus's performance. Other than that, you might want to check out chat and make sure its connecting to IRC.
