May have been packaged incorrectly. You could try submitting a bug to the debian/ubuntu package maintainer of the package. Might not be a bad idea to try at the a forum for your distro (debian/ubuntu). Then someone using the same release version and architecture could try to see if they can duplicate the problem. If they can't then it is something specific to your situation.
