Again: gtk-config not found

hi,
i, too, got the same message earlier mentioned "gtk-config not found" when running configure, so i installed the gtk-devel-package coming with suse 8.0 as recommended. same problem. configure says gtk isn't installed correctly. how to check? what to try?

try doing it all as root
