![]() I have noticed that limewire tends to be able to circumvent gtk-gnutella limits on the number of uploads by IP. The first requests may be denied at first but then may be accepted. This practice seems purposeful on the part of the limewire client. It quite annoys me because I have dialup that is up 75% of the time, but which has a dynamic (and a little unstable) IP. All it does is hurt them and other people interested in my files due to the greater probability of incomplete downloads. While I am frequently "found" again, it just does not seem neighborly. I am inclined to add IP's I happen to notice using this practice to my hostile list, but would certainly prefer a better solution. I am using a recent (within a week) cvs version on RH 7.3, |

![]() Markus, Same thing. Using a cvs updated about 21 hours ago, this morning I again noticed two downloads from the same IP. The extra download seems to be denied several times before it is accepted. The client was reported as LimeWire/2.8.6, however this may or may not be consistent with previous instances. Netstat shows two connections to me at port 6346 one from foreign port 11743 and one from 11706 (not that those are significant). (Is this what limewire means by sophistication? :-) While I prefer cvs due to the ease of updates, if this seems is my unique problem I would be willing to download a entirely new build tree, try the latest stable version, and/or mv my current .gtk-gnutella out of the way in case of corruption if you so suggest. |

![]() Cool. I have not "seen" it today, but will keep an eye out. Today I've mostly been associating with BearShares it seems. I think I probably will join the developers forum as least to lurk. I find this program and the gnutella so interesting (can just get entranced flipping through the screens watching the activity) that I might as well learn a bit of the nitty gritty that goes into it. Thanks, Chris |
