Default Shared directory security

Hi,

This probably sounds really dumb but I'm evaluating gtk-gnutella for p2p sharing...

Question is - are there any security issues relating to sharing directories, etc, or to put it another way - how much access do others have to my filesystem?

any clarification would be welcome - ta.

kevin.
