using gtk-gnutella source code

hi all,
installed gtk-gnutella-0.96.8 on my ubuntu system.can any opne tell me network connections for this.and i want to use the source code to implement new algorithm based on budget mechanism.so can any one help me in changing the source code of gtk-gnutella-0.96.8.
