Default Banning large blocks of IPs

Is there a limit on the size of an IP range that can be banned??

Just for example, if I try to ban 24.0.0.0 to 34.255.255.255 will this work?

I have tried banning large blocks of IPs at times and they dont seem to take for some reason.

Wondering if there is some built in safeguard against this and if it can be overcome.

Thanks
Dave
