Browse host did not return proper results I am running Phex on both my home and work PC. I wrote down the ip address and the "listening port" of my work PC and tried a Browse host from home. I have several image files in the work shared folder and "browse host" is enabled. When I browse the host from home seems to work and says "100 % complete" however no files are shown. There is no indication that there is a connection error or firewall issue. Also my work PC is not on any kind of private network. It is connected directly to my cable modem. Im wondering why the "browse host" did not show any files. |
When you run Phex on your home PC, is it shown as firewalled (do you see wall and a fire in the lower left corner of the Phex window)? |
My home is a laptop using wireless. It is software firewalled (zone alarm)and I assume theres a hardware firewall in the AP and/or modem as well. I looked for the "flame" and didnt see it. It appears to complete the browse host with no problem but returns none of the 20 files that I have in my shared folder. It connects to gnutella and searches with no probs. |
Then you need to open the Phex Port in your firewall (you can see it in the network screen below the pane with the connections. The port is the number after the colon - the number is part of the field after "my ip"). Also you might need to forward the ports (check your routers/wlan-stations configuration for Port-forwarding). |
Before you browse host can you try to connect to the other Phex, using the 'Connect To' field on the network tab? Are you using the official 3.0.2 release or a SVN release? |
