Question connect to other clients

Hello,

I heard that BearShare is only connecting to BearShare clients, all other gnutella clients are blocked.
Is that right ?!!

Default No

No, that is not true. Do not believe all the garbage those trolls are telling you.

With default settings, BearShare will not block any client.

I donīt know if you mean me with "troll"? If so thank you...

You should tell the whole story:

Bearshare is preferring OWN nodes, so you connect MAINLY to other bearshare clients - this is the default setting!

If you turn on the security feature YOU ARE BLOCKING all non bearshare traffic.

That must be why I mainly see Morpheus clients.

But if I do have more BearShare or LimeWire clients the searches seem to be better.

I am one of these people who tell this "garbage"... but with the difference that I tell the whole story and the people can decide which story is "garbage" and which not...

Zeroshadow!

Bearshare is able to connect to other nodes (by default) BUT PREFERS OWN NODES... if you donīt believe me read the threads on bearshare.net especially Vinnies statements.

Use the search feature and type "clustering" and you will sure find some referring posts. If you donīt understand what he said ask a coder.

And will you tell me now that bearshare donīt block other non bearshare traffic when you turn on the freeloader option... I mean the "security feature"?

Ya, I know. That is one of the reasons that I prefer BearShare.

If you turn on all the freeloader options then it really is not freeloading, because you can not download either, unless it is a secure client.

But seriously, security features are one of the biggest areas that the Gnutella Network is completely lacking in now. Any progress in this direction is a good thing even if has problems, promotes freeloading, and is generally disliked.

Hopefully someone will develope security features that really work and will be good enough to protect the users against the things that are bound to come in the future, such as that law the music industry wants so they can legally hack others.
