Default BS 5.1.0 Connection Issue

ISP - Cox Cable
Connection is on a Desktop but runs through a Wireless Rtr
Port-6348

Here's the deal...
While the "host/ultrapeer" button is Red my ISP conn is terribly slow. When it is green everything is fine. What is odd is that when it is red my downloads are still streaming, but when I search for new stuff it says quede. This is happening much more fequently. Any help is appreciated.

1: while cox(suckers) denies it, they have been known to throttle p2p traffic...this may be the problem

2: you may be experiencing the effects of being DDOS'd by the paid henchmen of the RIAA/MPAA...this can be mitigated by using Phoenix Labs » PeerGuardian 2
make sure that when you update it that it is blocking about 7 billion IP addys...if its only blocking about 600,000 then the p2p blocklist is empty and you should wait until a valid list is available...one trick when this happens is to go to program files\peerguardian2\lists and delete all of the files in that directory (while PG2 is shut down) then start up PG2 and update the lists...sometimes this works and gets the p2p list working and sometimes it doesn't...

PG2 works as a mini firewall....it specifically blocks certain IP addresses from making connections with your machine...

I've noticed some of the same effects that you describe, and while PG2 doesn't totally stop it, it does mitigate the effects to some degree...

I am not concerned as much with people entering my CPU as I am with opening my bandwidth. I agree that Cox is probably limiting me to some degree. If only there was a way to block them from doing this.
