Downloads say connecting or pending but never start
 

I am fairly new to Bearshare (used it in the past but just got a new computer).

I am running Vista and Bearshare 8.1. I am using the Windows Firewall, AVG Free, and Spybot.

Bearshare was working fine for several weeks. But, today, when I restarted my computer it stopped downloading. Under downloads in the status column it shows that there are files pending and connecting but nothing is happening (the same files have been connecting for several hours without any progress). Bearshare shows that I am online. I have disabled Spybot and have added Bearshare as an exception in my firewall.

What am I doing wrong (or what the heck is going on)???

Hi, I don't use Bearshare 8.1 because its not even on the Gnutella Network.
So I can't really help you there but I can recommend some other good programs if you want.

Please do because I am not real happy with the Lite version.

Im pretty agree with Mannequin her, BearShare 8.1 is NOT THE REAL GOOD OLD BEARSHARE......It's the iMesh clone with use of BearShare logo/icon on it...The real BearShare stoped development after version 5.2.x and up, if i remember it right! And you mention about Lite editon, and if you want it you can use it...I do not recomend use of BearShare Lite 5.2.5 at all, use older one is better! If you like real BearShare you could give it a go', and try this forums Beta/Test version of BearShare-it's really good (Good as Pro)....Here is the Download link to it: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html Or you can also try somthing els, the are many good p2p apps out there which is
not that bad to use.... ;-))

EDIT: We have also on the forum if you look a round different p2p apps for you to try like: Phex, Morpheus, Shareaza, Gnucleus, just to mention few....
