What's up with super-xxx.com ALWAYS coming up??? I hope you (LimeWire) are aware of this. Wherever ANY search is performed, nonsense or not, you ALWAYS get a result of it in url or html form. It points to the super-xxx.com website. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop this from happening. Tell them it is simply not allowed. Their system is manufacturing temporary files the instant any search is performed. Thank you. |

Search filter If you go to Tools/Options... in LimeWire, under Filters/Keywords, you can put in words you don't want to see and there's a checkbox to filter HTML files. |
Happens to me too. Not on every request, but most of the time. Makes me nervous. The IP address "offering" these downloads is 194.213.194.37. Praha. (just info) |
I think cydoor is responsible for this! This tool downloads banners and saves them on your harddisk! Use ad-aware to delete it: http://www.cnet.com/software/0-806181-8-7309404-1.html Morgwen |
No, it isn't Cydoor... I get this too, it must be some kind of script which whenever your search for it comes up with an exact match of your search with a html and url result. This must be pretty bad for the network (as i see this problem on most searches). There needs to be a way in place to stop malicious scripts like this from working. |
Perhaps its Topmoxie or other scum than... I have no problems with the PRO version so it must be something with the FREE version! Morgwen |
I'm getting the same thing, and frankly it's getting very annoying. I have LW2.0.2pro and it still happens. As for the speed, it seems great. I'm downloading anywhere from 80k to 230kbs. not bad. I've been using this one for a while, but I want to know what the most recent version is. It seems like the developers are producing a new version quite regularly. |
unwanted xxx Blocking HTML doesn't stop it --- it also comes buried in other files. I have had innocent looking dl's rapidly open a stack of "inapropriate" HTMLs on my Mac. As to naming a specific source--- be careful. If your download folder is also your shared folder (LimeWire preference setup), then you could also be an unknowing source. I've changed my setup and screen my downloads before they go anywhere else. |
I don't think this is a problem with Limewire. Rather, it seems more like someone wrote a mini-Gnutella client where all it does is sit on the network listening for search requests, and then just spits back this url as a result no matter what the search was. I just seemes like there's some guy sitting out there on the network with this hoaxing client. Again, I don't think it's a problem with limewire. |
