I have three different versions of Limewire: 1.4,1.6, and the newest one. I've downloaded songs from all of them but is there anyway I can delete the older Limewires but still keep all my songs? Like maybe transfer them to my newest Limewire? Please help, email me with answers!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!

I believe all of the versions of limewire you listed store their downloaded files in (assuming you are a PC/Windows user)

C:\Program Files\Limewire\shared.

KathW has nailed the best solution though... a common location for all of your files

You are so right - a major problem is poorly named, misnamed, partial files being made available - active managment of what you share is a great way to improve the quality of files on the net.

From here on, new LimeWire installers will effectively uninstall the old version. This means that you'll only have one LimeWire installed at any one time, and LimeWire will remember your settings between installs, so you won't have to reenter them either within the installer or within LimeWire.

When I installed 2.5.4 Pro it did not remove 2.4.4 Pro or copy my settings. Actually I was glad because I have encountered bugs in 2.5.4 and have reverted back to 2.4.4

I can not get 2.5.4 to swarm download, connections are slow and searches yield limited results. 2.5.4 also fills my incomplete directory with zero byte files by writing a new file each time it attempts to connect. At any rate I was very glad it did not delete my older version. Once a new version is running well I can manually delete the old. Copying my preferences over would be nice.

will effectively uninstall the old version.

That explains why we lose all of our LW settings between versions, even minor LW version updates, such as 2.5.3 to 2.5.4.

It's definitely a pain resetting some options such as filtering out bad hosts (those idiots who try to trick us into DL'ed their Porn web sites.. such as 194.213.194.* & 66.250.52.* )

That is a good thing. Thanks for adding it.
