Error opening Limewire 2.4

Whenever I try to open Limewire 2.4 on my Windows 98, I get the following error:

JAVAW.EXE
Assertion failed: (lock & JAWT_LOCK_ERROR)= = 0, File CBanner.cpp, line 36

JAVAW.EXE
Abnormal program termination

Could someone please help me with this? It was working fine until a couple of days ago when it started doing this. I haven't installed any new programs on my computer, so I don't know what could be causing this. thanks.

I recommend the following procedure:

1) Uninstall LimeWire
2) Uninstall Java

3) Install LimeWire
