connection stability

beta version seemes to work better than 2.4.4. but i'm unable to maintain a connection lw will connect w a host and then it drops and keeps cycling throught the hosts never making a stable connection for more than a few minutes
im using beta on mac os 9.1 ip is sbc dsl
please advise
