Hello! Hopefully this version will be a stable one!.But can you precise more exactly which bugs from the previous realese that have been fixed in this version?. Do this new version have the Query HIt Counter in the Library or is that a future update? Thanks for a great product! But you should check out the download directory: http://www3.limewire.com/download Thats the directory where all the older versions and the newest versions where downloable but now when you visit it you get an URL error 404 not found. So it needs to be fixed.

Joakim- That link is working for me. Does it work for you now? 2.5.5 does not include the new statistics in the library -- that feature will be added with the next version. LimeWire 2.5.5 primarily fixes a number of bugs that were found in 2.5.4, mostly having to do with changes we've made to the HTTP uploads. 2.5.5 should also exhibit significant performance improvements if you're sharing a large number of files. The only new feature that 2.5.5 adds is one that will not be apparent to the users -- we now make HTTP HEAD requests to all uploaders once a downloader has finished completing a download. This allows the downloader to inform all uploaders of alternate locations for the file, including itself. This also allows the uploaders to notify the downloader of any new alternate locations that they have identified since the downloader made its original request. Basically, this version propagates the "download mesh" significantly more than earlier versions, ultimately making downloading more reliable for everyone! |

With Limewire 2.5.5 Pro (Beta) I still get the multiple-file creation of size 0 for new attempts to retrieve a file. This behaviour only appeared in release 2.5.x (I believe). On another note, I moved my client for 3 hours to Ultrapeers status, and I was surprised to see only Limewire clients as leafs... Still get the odd Limewire @version@ leaf. |

Erik- I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the multiple-file creation of size 0." Are you talking about seeing size=0 in search results? If so, this is the result of a small change we made in 2.5.x versions where servers will report size 0 when, in fact, the server is no longer serving that file. We actually changed this back for 2.5.5 so that the server will still return the file's original size, even though it's no longer shared. In the long run, we will likely change it to dynamically remove these files from the server's file cache, but this is a more involved change. Is this what you're referring to (seeing files of size 0 in search results)? Thanks. |

Sorry AFisk, but it isn't there that I see lots of size 0 files. It's in my incomplete directory. When LW tries to retrieve a file it will create an empty file (size=0) with the filenumber-filename. If it can't retrieve the file (busy, noanswer), it will try another host, and create a new temporary file. What I get after some use is 5 files being transfered and maybe 15 empty files with the name slightly different. Anyway, thanks for the GREAT software. I'm a proud Limewire Pro user ;-) |

Interesting. Thanks for the report. I'll forward this on to Chris and Sumeet who are the true caretakers of the downloading code, as this does sound suspicious. Have you noticed any pattern as to when this issue occurs? Does it seem to do this every time in the scenario you described? Glad you like using the product, and thanks again for letting us know about this issue. |
