Exclamation 2.5.5 loses props, doesn't share files

I hate to pop your bubble but installing 2.5.5-Pro over the top of my existing 2.5.4-Pro had the following effects:
- lost all props
- blocked requests for file uploads until it had finished regenerating the hashes

I was starting to get worried that it might be ignoring the two sub-folders in my main shared folder, so I manually added them.

FYI - is there supposed to a be regkey the program checks? In regedit, I couldn't find anything like HKLM/sw/Limewire ...

LimeWire can only upload files that have already been hashed, and in case you are rebuilding your library a file is likely to get a slightly different identifier so any request for it will result in a 404, although you are sharing the file.

Adding subfolders of shared folders is not necessary. If you are sharing a folder, LimeWire will automatically share all subfolders.

Thanks for the reply, but you do realize that this folder was already hashed by the previous install? And, No, I hadn't changed any files.

In other words, installing the update caused all my settings and hashes to be lost.

the fileurns.cache file storing all the hashes will probably have been deleted in that case, and I think the same happened to your props file. Perhaps it was some weird error in the installer / uninstaller. - Usually that should not be happening

Perhaps it would be helpful if you could reproduce the error and describe what you do to the developers.

Well ... how, beside what I've always done?

- I shutdown the running (current-version) copy.
- I run the installer for the new version
- As soon as it prompts me for the default download folder, I know I'm in trouble.

Maybe they're not testing with non-default shared/download folders? I have mine on a separate drive (D from the program (C:\Program Files\Limewire)

I had the lost props problem in every release of 2.5.x up until the 2.5.5 . . . which installed fine and did keep my properties. FYI I am running Windows 2000 if that makes any difference.

Unhappy

I am at a loss... I too upgraded from 2.5.4 and in fact had mentioned the problem in another posing ... expecting it to still be an issue... I was surprised that it worked.

then wtf. any ideas? All I can think of is that my shared folder is not the default, and is on a different drive letter entirely.

Just curious, but are you installing LW 2.5.5 to the default path C:\Program Files\Limewire ?

I'm guessing that installing to any other Drive or Path will indeed lose the Props.
