Question About Macs(note Limewire) Hello, I just got this here mac. My question is (being that I am a PC user of years) when you delete programs, is there a "add/remove prgrams" feature like on a PC or do you just drag em off the HD into the trash!! Have a good holiday... p.s. I ask only because if you delete straight from hard disk on a PC you screw up system files. |
You can just drag to the trash. If you have an uninstall option, I would recommend using it. But, otherwise, you can drag the application to the trash and try to find other associated files in System Folder and Extensions and trash those. I don't think it's an issue if anything is left behind. Other than using up space. If anyone has any better ideas, please reply. |
good question I am aware of the add/remove function and it is a good thing... There are utilities like Spring Cleaning (or Clean Sweep??) from Aladdin Sys that add this functionality...I beleive there may be one or two other apps/utilities to handle the job. I always felt like I new what was where in OS9 and chose to manually clean out extensions, control panels, etc... I assume you are using OSX...and I don't feel strong enough with it to do the same. Hope this gets you on the path to an answer...good luck and hope you enjoy your new toy. -marklar |
