These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. LimeWire 3.6.9 Beta We've just released LimeWire 3.6.9 beta after going live with 3.6.8. 3.6.8 fixed several bugs in 3.6.7, and 3.6.9 fixes several more issues in 3.6.8. We're releasing 3.6.9 as a separate beta simply because one of the fixes is to native Windows code which requires a more extensive beta period. 3.6.9 includes: - a native fix on Windows XP that will correctly set the permissions on shared files to overcome the fact that Windows Media Player 9 incorrectly sets their permissions to be only readable - more fixes to iTunes integration code on OS X - a fix for search options displayed for XML searches - the addition of rpm as a default shared extension - a fix for a bug with MAGNET downloaders that caused them to fail in certain situations - several fixes to displayed text in response to user feedback (grammatical errors and even a couple of spelling mistakes) - a fix to setting your network address (IP) if you are firewalled -- this was particularly noticeable on Linux for local LAN searches (multicast), as they could be disabled in certain situations Thanks very much to everyone for their continued help testing the betas! -LimeWire Team |

Hi Adam, I hope this is a small fix. When I go under the Tools menu and click Options, it does not come up with the options screen. Another person is having this same problem but with the German version. Here is the link: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=22292 Thanks for looking into this. |

Thanks again for the detailed log Adam, the speedy fix of bugs, and all the developments. Sure is appreciated! Thanks too, Sam, for taking the extra time in the forums. Anyway, for the record here's what I've noted about minor glitches in 3.6.9 so far: Installing: -The OSX installer says "click to install" when a double-click is needed. -The OSX installer still overwrites a running version (3.6.9 overwrote 3.6.8). Doesn't seem right, but still no problems noted. -Console logs the following on install and start-up: Oct 27 17:14:00 stief-iBook authexec: executing /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Installation.framework/Resources/runner Oct 27 17:17:37 stief-iBook /Applications/LimeWire/LimeWire.app/Contents/MacOS/LimeWire: kCGErrorFailure : *** Parser error line 1, character position 52 Setup: -The advanced stats info box still speaks of the (hidden?) option to write stats to a file. -In the OSX default theme, as soon as Bandwidth stats hit 1 meg, they become unreadable (last digits of Max column overlap first digits of Total column). This is not the case with other, Windows styled, themes which use a smaller font and size, but that's a high price to pay to read the stats. : ) -The "About LimeWire" box is very slow opening and displays varied results. Sometimes line spacing between names changes or even whole blocks of names are missing. E.g., 3.6.8 showed no names under the "moved on" heading; but all others showed with bulleted names single-spaced. 3.6.9 now shows the names, on doubled spaced lines, but some (not all) of the opensourcers' names are on single-spaced lines. (With the default OSX theme). This has been going on for a while: I can't find a pattern. -TOTD has some duplicates? e.g "Sometimes the 'search' button is disabled . . . " I also had to close the LW window once to get the TOTD window to come forward--the Help Menu wouldn't always work to do this -Help->Review LimeWire returns "Page not Found" -High to Low Sorting arrow is inconsistent. By Time (longest connected at the top) in Connections displays a pyramid; In Library the Uploads column uses an upside-down pyramid to put the highest number at the top of the list. -unchecking "Use LimeWire Player" in Options is correctly saved between sessions and restarts. I wish for an additional option that would remove the player controls from the interface--I've never used them. DeBloat? -connecting is fast and smooth--62 incoming connections; 1 outgoing. I'm getting into the habit of removing any who don't have compression enabled--I'd rather help those who help conserve bandwidth. -CPU usage on a 700 G3 iBook is anywhere from 12 to 94%--with no conservation measures taken. I can still do everything else I want on my computer. Are we likely to be beta testing NIO soon? Kick me if it's already included : ) Searching (I like the new default sorting; reconciling totals of results and alternates was a bit confusing) -a search for "limewire" still returns too many results (1136, mostly irrelevant .mp3's in less than 10 seconds)--but it's good I don't see any Package contents. -LW still returns results listing the contents of other OSX packages as if OSX applications are seen as folders. (thanks to Jens-Uwe who has already tried to help me understand the difficulties involved) -The magnets are working again! Are you still planning to implement a menu option in LW that will compose a magnet of our own file we can email to friends? Add an "authorized" folder and the hope of using secure magnets to transfer files will be closer! I won't need to pay for an iDisk to transfer files--nice Pro feature. -Adding a few files to existing shared folders still requires a refresh which resets all columns (and seems to interrupt uploads). Can't the refresh button be streamlined by using the backup system you use to keep the .dat file up to date? Sorry I couldn't get around to checking some serious swarming, ethernet connections, and my favourite-- upload smoothness of legitimate content (averaging 45/100 KB/s, but still seem jerky. I want to see a graph of a single smooth uninterrrupted upload regularly by Christmas), but out of time. Thanks greatly for the continued progression--glad to see the Netsize is growing and more users discovering gnutella. Last edited by stief; November 1st, 2003 at 07:14 AM. |

Sam--is there anything in the Official builds that's excluded from the CVS builds? I'm still assuming from what Adam said before that beta testing with the jum builds is just as relevant as testing with the official ones. |

As per the confused display, that does not happen on my machine. The text of the about box is nicely tidy. I could imagine that corrupted fonts could disturb that display. Try deactivating custom fonts if that makes a difference. |

Good news LimeDude (and other Mac Classic users)! We found a way to fix all the bugs caused by Mac Classic's buggy JIT (Just-In-Time compiling) option. This means many many bugs will no longer occur. The bugs were happening on Mac Classic a LOT! We've received a total of about 28,000 (!!!) bug reports from these problems. (The most being 2554 reports with 3.6.6, 22403 reports with 3.5.8 and 1523 reports with 3.5.7.) It'll be great to finally get rid of these annoying errors.
