We are unfamiliar with this issue. Are you completely certain that you have a live connection to the Internet when you start LimeWire? What operating system are you using? This should not happen unless you are disconnected from the Internet. LimeWire will automatically search for a port to use if the default one is in use, so it should be able to find a port without a problem if you are connected to the network. Any more information you can provide would be helpful. Any word from anyone else experiencing this problem? |

I'm currently on Wi***. I'm sure that I have a live connection to the internet when I try to connect. I am on a cable modem, and right before I upgraded I had been connected using 1.4b (before I uninstalled it, of course). I know some other people had this problem...there's another thread about it, called "listening port." Under the configuration window it had automatically changed the default port to 6355, but I was unable to change it to anything else, and I was unable to connect. |

Do you still have your old version of LimeWire kicking around anywhere? If not, you could download it from: http://www.limewire.com/download/1.4/LimeWireWin.exe It would be a tremendous help if you could check whether or not this was a problem with 1.4 as well, as we are unable to duplicate that issue internally. (don't worry, I won't hold it against you if that's too much to ask =)). Also, I assume that you are using LimeWire 1.6b beta? If not, you might want to give it a try at: http://www.limewire.com/beta/1.6b/win/LimeWireWin.exe Thanks for all of your help. |

PointyEgg- Thanks for trying this out -- glad to hear that it worked. Were you previously using LimeWire 1.6b or LimeWire 1.6? Do you still have 1.6 installed on your system? If so, does it continue to have the same problem, while 1.4 connects successfully? I'm only asking because that section of the code has not changed significantly since LimeWire 1.4, so the bug is somewhat mysterious. Thanks again. |

Mac Limewire 1.6b bug? I was hoping that this release would remember the config settings, but *now* it's bringing up the config "wizard" on each launch! Otherwise, getting momentary freeze-ups (that affect the entire system), though can't quite figure out just what is going on when these occur. Aside from the above, seems to be working fine. Keep up the great work, guys. |

Are you using LimeWire on OSX? If so, LimeWire will only save your settings if you exit through going to File>>Exit instead of exiting through the OSX toolbar. If you are not using LimeWire on OSX, then there may be some issue that we are not aware of. |

I had 1.6b. I tried to install both 1.4 and 1.6 (to different folders) and the problem would still exist in 1.6b while 1.4 worked. I even tried installing the two in a different order to see if it was the installation that did it, but 1.4 would always work while 1.6 wouldn't. |
