Re: Black Skin
We'll look into this. Note that the only themes updated right now are "Black", "Classic [old Default]", "Default [new]", "Default OSX", "LimeWire Pro", and "Windows". The others are all updated, but will be released on the website. We're contemplating adding a small message that informs the user they're running an out-of-date version of the theme, offering an upgrade.

It's on the list of things to do... We're all very busy with the 4.0 release, trying to tie up loose ends and all that. Unfortunately, updating the .org site is not high on the list of required things for 4.0. It'll be done, though.

Don't get too attached to these. The tree-ness of the search results is a major factor in the UI slowdown when results come pouring in. This is being looked at right now, with the goal in mind of fixing it before 4.0. (There _will_ still be a way to see the other sources, just not as easily.)

Only the "Default OSX Theme". Apple doesn't allow any way to make those menu bars on other themes.

Does this happen consistently? Try disabling Ultrapeer -- does it still get slow after a day? Not sure what could be causing this.

Re: New icons
There are known issues with the icons right now -- namely, they don't update when the state changes (like the download finishing or being killed). This is slotted to be fixed before 4.0.

Ah--the arrows! That explains some 'gui freezes' when a results from a 3000 shares host is loading. I'd thought it was because of memory swapping (vocab?). It's good the arrow function will still be available (I use them to see who else is sharing one of the files shared by my other computer). btw--the power management looks to be working. A few quick checks now show ~10% CPU use here: I used to expect 50-70%.

re the icons (I like! Please have them also reflect the contents of an UNshared download folder). Also, attempting a download of a file already in my UNshared download folder creates a "red" file in the Incomplete folder despite cancelling the download via the proper dialog that pops up. I have to manually delete the 0KB file or it triggers the 'incomplete' icon on subsequent searches. btw--magnets don't trigger the " overwrite existing . . .?" message ( I have to delete it from my unshared download folder before I can download a test magnet).

--I do hope the open source credits/Hall of Fame gets to be a priority. None of my business, but since they eschew the fortune, they deserve the fame. [pompous analogy]Even paid coders deserve recognition, and they need a predictable payday. --the splash screen (Aubrey's?) is the new one that shows when LimeWire is starting up. It looks two-dimensional to me, much like the graphics I saw before monitor resolutions could handle thousands or millions of colours. Not important--just a passing impression.

Re: the gui slowdown
It doesn't matter that I'm UP or not while being UP might create the problem earlier... It happens when I've uploaded near 2 gigs so maybe a little more than 24 hours. Can this be caused by the virtual memory used? Yesterday when it was slow LW was using in process viewer 150MB of ram and 600MG of virtual memory. Can Stief can confirm the slow gui isssue or lots of mem usage? (It doesn't matter which them I'm using).

Edit: the weird caracters in vendor column, this also happens in search results and this happens for a variety of vendors (LW, BS, RAZA etc) I first reported this bug to Adam in the 3.7 beta series.

I agree, there seems to be some kind of memory leak somewhere. But I don't think it's directly related to the GUI slowdown.

I never saw those, - all I see is Xolox' strange vendor codes.

hi guys. I've seen various slowdowns, but usually figured they were user related (like browsing a host who shares >3k files; resolving a page of IP's in connections; screen redraw delay after monitor is waking up; or after switching among Admin users). Can someone propose a test we could run, or at least an "area" of focus?

et voilà--those memory use numbers sound like what I've usually seen--they aren't normal?

By GUI slowdowns I mean switching tabs (ie from search to monitor, etc). Options switching become slow, stats swithching too. BTW I'm now running UP with 85MG of ram, so I wonder why it should go up to 150MG over time if there is no memory leaks. Maybe my becoming old computer of 2000 is one factor for the GUI, but I think it is related either to a bug in LW or in the Apple implementation of java 1.4.2. If it is os x only, this is definitly Apple's fault.

i just use winamp but it would b nice to have the other one actually work

That skipping could be caused by many things...

Other apps demanding high processor time causing conflicts
Fragmented HDD
Sound card problems (NO matter how much it may have cost !!!)
etc.,etc. !

Yeah, the internal player is a CPU hog (comparitively to native players). It shouldn't be skipping on low bitrate files in general (which used to be the case). If you are using a lot of CPU though, the internal player will chug - we are actually trying to decrease the CPU usage of searching, it is WAY too high right now.
