Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. LimeWire 3.9.3 Beta The LimeWire 3.9.3 beta is released, with the pro version available from a link on your Pro download page, and the free version available from the LimeWire download page. Changes in 3.9.3 include: - ID3v2 support! - Redesigned themes, and a brand new search interface! - Renamed 'Community Search' to "What's New". - Icons showing if a search result is already saved, already downloading, or already partially downloaded. - Support for displaying file-type icons on Windows with Java 1.3. - Support for browse-hosting people connected to you. (Just double-click on the line in the Connections tab!) - Automatic recovery of corrupt files. This uses the "Tree Hash EXchange Protocol" (THEX). Contributions from Gregorio Roper & Philippe Verdy were used for this. - Automatic preferencing for peers with a similiar locale. This means that Japanese users will tend to connect to other Japanese users, or French users will tend to connect to other French users, etc... - Much faster startup times (on 'loading core components'). - Power Management. When LimeWire is in the background, it will consume less resources & bandwidth so that you can use other programs with no delays. - Fixed international Windows installer. - Fixed problems where a file would endlessly download with no change in progress, submitted by Gregorio Roper. - Full HTTP & SOCKS proxy support, originally submitted by Gregorio Roper. - Support for running alongside programs that install incompatable java libraries. - Various bug fixes and optimizations, submitted by Roger Kapsi, Philippe Verdy and Jens-Uwe Mager. ... and even more features, optimizations, and overall goodness are coming in future betas! LimeWire is keeping it's place as a top-notch program available on all platforms, thanks to open source contributions and beta testers. Please keep us informed on what you like & dislike with this new beta! Thanks, - The LimeWire Team Last edited by sberlin; April 16th, 2004 at 03:51 PM. |

Skins The change in the black skin makes it *VERY* hard to see the progress of anything being downloaded or uploaded in LimeWire 3.9.3 beta without first highlighting it or without increasing the brightness/gamma of my monitor to some insane levels that make everything else too bright. |

Ok I am far from the most computer literate person around. So please bare with me and if any help is available it would be greatly appreciated. I am getting like 1 kbps or 0 kbps download rates. Im running on win xp 1.81GHz processor and 224 Mb of RAM. My IP is reading 10.118.5.**. At least thats what I found lol. Now I read in another topic.. That an IP that starts out in 10 tends to get blocked alot? I dunno Im feeling like an idiot at the moment because I dont know how to fix this problem. (and Im a daily blonde moment kinda chick) So please help if you can. I appreciate it. oh Im also running the 3.9.3 Beta version if that wasnt horribly obvious? Danie |

Well congrats to all once again--and thanks for the clear changelog Sam. Looks like you are challenging the tech writers [silentmusings: see if this helps http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=24950 ] So much to say, so little space, but overall this looks to show that LW's development plans are really working well. THEX seems to work well (hard to say since it's one of those invisible fixes. Still, I tried downloading large videos that used to trigger corrupt messages, but so far no go, which is good). What will you kickstart next trap_jaw? Speaking of open sourcers, when will the Open Source Hall of Fame be updated? I keep checking to see when (if?) Jens-Uwe, Roger, and the Unknown Coders will be listed on http://www.limewire.org/ re search filters: I don't like the loss of real estate the left panel takes, but I'm finding it indispensible. Especially when browsing through the "what's new" results, the ability to quickly sort 100's of entries is habit-forming. I rarely minimize the left panel anymore, so it's habit forming, and the What's New button is depressingly addictive. I guess this feature will be quickly copied by the spam outfits. re themes: In both OS 10.2 and 10.3, the arrow that collapses multiple sources doesn't show in the OSX theme. Switching to the default theme and back to the OSX theme makes it reappear, but a "repeat search" loses the arrow again. btw, which are the themes with the OSX (not Windows look-and-feel) menu bar? I was afraid to try too many in case they burned out my screen or triggered flashbacks. Perhaps the themes could be classified further under something like "Style"? i.e Discreet Conservative Fruity Psychodelic sk8tRz Geocitiies other topics for later: -can't browse Acquisition connections -font size needs to be also reduced in stats -new incomplete/download icons are confused by an unshared download folder -Shareaza Peer displays vendor as code (?) when browsed -Example bug report updates/readings -Greg's contributions? -new splash screen sadly 2D -yada yada yada Cheers |

I like the new splash screen, very classy. I like the new search filter and the fact that you can change the filters as you want with the little left circle. I also like being able to browse you UP and leaves connections. The thing that still bothers me is the gui slowdown when you've been running LW for more than a day, the interface becomes very sluggish. I don't know if being an UP as I'm now makes the situation worst. Congrats, LW 4.0 is shaping to be the best P2P client bar none.

At the moment I am looking at the chat code. I would like to add a buddy list and a distributed chat room feature, - but I don't know if it's going to work. Quote:

update--I finally browsed two Acq's (ver 107.2 and 105.3). Most of the time though, double-clicking an Acq that shows QRP% >0 opens an IP tab in the search pane but no search results ever show. Other non-browsable hosts either show the "Cannot browse" dialog or else start the IPtab then close it quickly. I'm seeing far fewer Acq's: Usually there are 8-10, but now both machines (UP) show only 2 on each. Did the limits on non-LW connections change, and is Acq now counted as a non-LW vendor? |
| ||||
Acqx is a non LW in 3.9.3 but it happened before in many betas and even full release versions... it might be a bug, I don't know, but it's not the first time it is like that. Not that I care of. À stief, Dave never answered my PM.... Edit: its in the upload window I cant browse hosts from vendor other than LW, just to make it clearer.

Did a quick switch back to jum207, and le voilà (there's also a Bear 4.4.3.4 inc. Peer not shown). Was only able to browse on of the RAZA's and one of the Acqx's (altogether--a measly 28 files in total). LOL--looks like leechers like my machine. Anyone want a reciprocity option? Preference connections based on browsability rather than vendor. I let you browse me, and v versa. [figures that the PM went unaswered, and I noticed another request to turn off browse host on the acqx forums. ] |
