limewire beginner

As "LimeWire"- beginner (Version 4.0.7 auf Mac 9.0 mit DSL-Verbindung) i've got some questions about the options:
- is a DSL- connection a fast connection to serve as a ultrapeer ? If yes, does it slow down the speed of my d/ls ?
- how many d/ls can I do at the same time without reducing the speed ? Or doesn't it matter ?
- how many searches can I do at the same time without reducing the speed ? Or doesn't it matter ?
- what does kompression mean?

the connecting window:
i've got max. 4 connections at the same time; the protokoll shows everywhere ultrapeer. Why can't there be more ?

the search window:
sometimes there is a connection, the status column shows "download from x computers" but nothing happens in the speed column (0 kb/s).
