These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

Believe it or not, doing lots of browse hosts may have caused it. There was an issue we noticed with Sockets not being properly closed while doing browse hosts. I believe that's been fixed in CVS. If you do happen to be able to repeat the problem though, please let us know what you did to reproduce it. LOTR -- how many searches do you generally have up, and how many did you kill to reduce the memory by 100MB? When you say you cancelled some completed files, does that mean the download was still in the download table listing "Completed"? About how many of those were there? Do you know if those downloads had lots of sources while they were active? |

Sam: any plans to support the partial files sharing source mesh specific to bearshare 4.6? I think a basic ask a read support would be enough as LW already shares partial in the normal source mesh. There are now a lot of bearshares on the Gnet and it would be great to get those ressources available. Ciao

Thanks Sam. Will a search for "browse" on http://limewire.org/fisheye/changelog/limecvs/ point to when the changes were made? Sorry--I've been having trouble keeping up with the changes through the following links. If you can suggest some updated links, TIA. http://www.limewire.org/jira/secure/Dashboard.jspa (returns a 500) http://www.limewire.org/nightly/tests/osx/index.html (showed 0 tests recently, but back up again now) http://www.limewire.org/nightly/clov...lts/index.html http://www.limewire.org/nightly/clov...istorical.html (major revisons going on?) http://bugs.limewire.com/bugs/home.jsp (too overloaded with this long run of 4.1.5?) http://www.limewire.org/ (any chance the opensourcer credits will be updated soon?) |

LOTR--here's an old link re bandwidth capping, but it does cover most of the arguments. http://slashdot.org/articles/03/09/22/1744232.shtml btw--if you run as an Ultrapeer, keep an eye on the bandwidth: I'm seeing up to ~15KB/s (can lead to about 1 GB/24 hrs). This used to be about 1/2 as much, but has been creeping up in the last few months as far as I can tell. |

iTunes DAAP support (iT Sharing Prefs) I was wondering if anybody can fill me in about Digital Audio Access Protocol & how it works in LW? Stief: I forgot to do the safe start, but did do it a few hrs ago & repaired permissions, at present ram 311 & 735 MB for VM. I'll see how it goes after many hrs. Actually I have a suspicion that if you leave already completed dwnlded files on the dwnld list, it accumulates ram. After many hrs (before I did the safe start), I deleted about 6 completed files off the list & ram seemed to jump down a bit (again.) It might be just my imagination. It won't happen anymore b/c I've set it for autoclear completed files. stief I'm not brave enough to run as an UP. I'm at the bottom end of adsl so it's probably not worth the effort. I'm already over 3 GB in 5 days, lol. That's despite trying to ease up a bit at times. |

Salut à tous, This week a lot of code has gone through CVS: Now LW doesn't send QRP with the hash tables, the UP no longer pass through hash queries (that LWs never used anyway). LW only takes now magnets with URN AND an IP address. This reduces traffic for UPs. LW now prefer using UDP hosts caches before trying Gwebcaches, reducing gwebcache traffic. Firewall to firewall transferts updated. As well as alternate locations. I wonder when LW will post an updated beta, it's been what 2 months since 4.1.5? Lots have changed under the hood since. LODR: are you using the JUM's build? Ciao

Just FYI, the UDP attempts before GWebCaches aren't on the mainline yet. Once that's all completed we'll merge it in & likely put out a beta. Since GWebCaches are so overloaded right now, we don't want to put out another release till we can make sure they won't get further overloaded (and also make sure that clients can connect faster initially). |
