Irrelivant Search Results Hi, One of the main quibles that LimeWire still has that gets on my nerves is while searching. A lot of the time i always get results which dont match my query that i have specifically entered. For example if do a search filling in the artist and title field in the audio section i get results that only match the Artist's name which i have entered, or in worse cases hits that just include various words from the "Title" i have entered. I thought the point of being able to search with this extended meta data was so u could be more specific, but my results are so random sometimes.... Is this just the way LimeWire searches? or is it because of other clients reacting to the search or something? |

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that LW is, like, the major Gnutella client.

Maybe, because it's the major Gnutella client, it recieves more results and thus more crap or something.

Then again, maybe it's just because all those clients have different search engines. IMO LW doesn't look only in the title. It also looks the other info of the file. That's why when you type in "Title", it will sometimes return stuff that don't even feature that word in the title. I mean, I've seen results like "01" after having typed in "Title", which makes no sense at first glance. however, when you leave the mouse pointer on top of that file for a few secs, it will reveal further info (if available) that might explain why this result showed up.

Well it just seems clumsy to me. I mean when i type in the "Title" of a track along with an "Artist", alot of the time i get results returned with the track name that i have entered but by a completely different artist. Which means that it has ignored the the info i have typed in the "Artist" field. Then when i go do the exact same search on the other filesharing programs i listed, i only get results with the "Title" that i have entered and the "Artist" that i have entered. Which means the search has been successful in return exactly what i have entered. Last edited by Jakotsu; October 1st, 2004 at 08:10 AM. |
