OSX Memory Issues Folks -- For my sanity, could those experiencing this OSX memory problem with the latest betas attempt installing the 4.0.8 version and see if it still happens? To re-install 4.0.8 I think you'll have to delete the LimeWire installer's receipt under Library/Receipts (due to an OSX bug that prevents downgrading installations). Thanks. |
Will do. the file that has to be deleted from /Library/Receipts is called "Install LimeWire.pkg" also, OSX won't allow an install of LW in a different user account without a restart. Otherwise, nothing happens when double-clicking the installer and Console will show: Install LimeWire.pkg to /tmp/LimeInstallation/1041 mkdir: /tmp/LimeInstallation/1041: Permission denied cp: /tmp/LimeInstallation/1041: Permission denied |
1 Attachment(s) here's a memory chart of a vanilla 4.0.8 Pro, installed in a new admin user account. No menu options or preferences were viewed or changed. I tried to follow the same pattern as before, except that this session was sharing 0 files and running as a leaf on the default ports, which were blocked by the router. Looks like the VM problem is in 4.0.8 too |
1 Attachment(s) FWIW, the problem is still in the release version of 4.2.2 Pro (and also in Gregario's 666). Hiding/Unhiding; downloads/cleared downloads no longer make a difference, so I'm out of ideas now. The VM is a problem here, because if I start with 2 1/2 GB free HD space, I have to reboot in a day or so to avoid "Disk Full" errors and warnings. |
1 Attachment(s) Tested again this weekend with more free disk space (in case low HD space was a factor). Didn't help. Too, hiding/unhiding LW only seems to TOGGLE a VM rise. THis is with the released version of LW 4.2.3 Pro on a 700MHz iBook running 10.3.6 as an Ultrapeer, uploading about 40 KB/s. |
