I can't manage setting the ultrapeer mode. Only a leaf

I'm a limewire pro user. I've just installed the beta. After a few minutes working normally as an ultrapeer, i've seen the connection sheet changing to leaf mode. I've tried to come back as ultrapeer, and even downloaded back the 4.2.6 version. Now it automatically start as a leaf node. I've tried to work with the spped panel checking and un checking the ultrapeer capacity: no result.
Can someone help me resetting the ultrapeer capacity

Thank you
Dudi

Your LimeWire just realized, that it isn't needed as Ultrapeer, so it switched to Leaf mode. this only changes your role in the network, but not the results you get from LimeWire (it's been fine tuned for this).

When there are too few UPs in the network, it will switch back to UP mode automatically.

thank you... I'll wait but search results are not the same

thank you a lot for your explanation I'll wait beacuse the fact is that now i get only a small portion of search results. As an UP i could see 26 connection active (leafs) now only 5 UP.

Each UP is connected to 26 leafs, and each leaf is connected to other UP's, so the 5 UP's u r connected to give a total of 130 computers at only the second stage of the search(ur pc searches its 5UPs, they search their 130pcs for u - 2 stages so far). I am led to believe that the standard no.of stages fof Gnutella is 7, so its easy to imagine how many pcs urs is connected to, whether ur an UP or not. Limewires connections change all the time, as pcs log on/off etc. this means that search results are always very variable, but theres always loads of stuff out there.

Correct me if im wrong, no point in spreading lies:)

As a pro user they'll get 5 compared to the basic version which has 3 to my understanding. So that in itself should help whether running as a UP or leaf.

Perhaps some experience at optimising your LW will help kalypsos. arne_bab is much more experienced & knowledgable at this than me (I'd been a dial up user for the past 3 years on LW until 4 mths ago. lol) :D Good points robfir! :)

Ok I've understood

Ok guys I've read yuor answers and some other discussions about UP / Leaf. Now I'ts clear how LW really does work. Infact in this very moment i'm connected as UP so the fact is thaat now the system requires my broadband to shield other leafs but it could need no more and switch me to a leaf.

Thank you it's good to find some experienced users using their time to teach new ones

You could also look at http://gnufu.net.
It does explain teh inner workings of gnutella without requiring you to be able to understand code...
