Beta versions are versions that are being tested they have fixes for previous issues and new features, But havent been thouroughly tested yet for problems that may arrise. The regular release versions are tested versions that have been somewhat proven to work on most sysetms. If you are not familiar with LimeWire I do nor recomend that you run a beta version becaus there may be problems that no one knows the answers to yet.

Question

I currently have 4.9.11 beta because as far as I know the newest regular pro version is 4.8.1. On the basic, I noticed there is 4.9.11 beta and 4.9.11 regular. My bookmarked pro download page will only show 4.8.1 as the current version unless I click on the "beta available" icon. Then it shows 4.9.11 as the current beta. Is this all correct or is there a more current regular version of pro. And what is the dif between the basic 4.9.11 regular and 4.9.11 beta? If they are the same version ,what's different?

Question BETA

By the way the reason I got the beta version even though I am inexperienced is because the 4.8.1 pro I was using kept getting errors and shutting down. It would also keep dropping connections after 10 - 30 seconds for each connection. Then finally it would say that I had no internet connection.

The new beta may and may not fix your problem. It sounds like a Java isue to me but I dont know for shure. If you could read the thread below there is alot of good information in it. And the more info you can provide when writeing a thread the better the chances of solving the problem. IE

O/S Windows 98/2000/XP
CPU P43.0/AMD 3200+
Memory 256/512
LimeWire Verson 4.8.1/4.9.11
Java Version 1.4.*/1.5.*
connection Type Dial up/Cable
Firewall Type Norton/Windows
Router make & model
any error messages and a good description of what is happening you have a good start there and it appears that you are trying to figure out the problem yourself if you need any more help try using above sugistions and I or someone else will help if we can.

Talking BETA

Thank you very much for your help and suggestions. I actually don't need help with any problems anymore though. Since I started using 4.9.11 beta, I've had no problems. I am still waiting for answers from the post I had made three posts ago from three posts ago, that would be awesome.

Cool BETA

I am now registered per your request. If anyone could please answer some questions that I had 5 posts ago (not specific problems, just general limewire questions) that would be great. Thank you very much in advance.
