IRC Chat Log:

[00:08] <ultracross> yo zab
[00:12] <ultracross> problems with the system tray are appearing on my system, and other people are seeing it too.
[00:12] <ultracross> http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=42183
[00:19] <zab_> we made the icon show all the time
[00:19] <zab_> so what happens is that you can minimize limewire and it will stay in the task bar, but it will also have an icon
[00:20] <zab_> only if you hit close will it go completely in the systray

personally, i think this functionality should be set as default, but also give the user an option to disable it.

Showing the tray icon at all times conflicts with most commonly employed standards. However, the devs are welcome to do as they please, but I would appreciate the option to disable it. I'd prefer no icon at all to having it all the time. Ideally seeing it only when the window is not active would work.

I definitely agree that there should be a pref. to enable/disable showing the icon at all times. I also found a bug where if you right click the icon and hit restore, it will move a little bit each subsequent time.

Schmitty03,

Thanks for the note about the bandwidth indicator typo. It is fixed in the next version (4.9.18).

Regarding the left-to-right resizability of the search tab, we made the conscious decision to simplify the UI and remove this 'feature' because many people had (accidentally) hidden the search fields and could not find them again. Many people (like yourself) have missed this feature... perhaps we will be able to add it as a preference in the future.

I too am quite pleased with how 4.9.11 has turned out, and also enjoy the new splash screen.

However, I really liked the ability in 4.8.x and prior to resize the sub-windows to show what I want to see. The sizing bar is still there for going between downloads and search results, but it is now missing between the search bar and the search results. Now more of the information I like to view is out of my screen size, and I need to resize something else or scroll quite a bit. Just a little functionality that was greatly used before...

Also I just noticed a little typo in the options screen under the new Status Bar location: in the Bandwidth Indicator portion, you can select or deselect showing the BI, but the text is asking if you want to show your Firewall Indicator (which is two options above the BI). Just a small thing... but new users might be wondering if that does anything at all when it is mislabeled.

Thanks and keep up the amazing work!

DrSuSE,

A new preference (for now, located under "Shutdown") that allows you to turn off the tray icon when the main LimeWire window is visible is now available in the new 4.9.19 beta.

I haven't needed the sizing bar yet on Beta but I have used it frequently before and will miss it. I have in fact "lost" the download screen once or twice but it wasn't hard to get it back

Hmmm... if you 'lost' the download screen, we need to prevent that from happening. Do you remember how it happened?

I'm just going to throw this out there again, but for me (on GNOME 2.10) clicking the icon in the task bar repeatedly will move it over to the left (it may move it another direction for you). I don't know what's causing this, but it's definitely not supposed to do this.
