LimeWire 4.9.13 Beta The LimeWire 4.9.13 beta has been released. You can download the free version from the LimeWire download page. PRO users can download the beta from their personal download page. This beta includes changes that should address the network disconnects and general reliability of LimeWire: * several memory leaks were fixed, so LimeWire should not crash if left running for a long period of time * some experimental changes to address the network disconnects * various small optimisations here and there. Keep in mind that while this aims to increase the reliability of LimeWire, a lot of new code was added; using this version may be a rocky ride. If you were happy if 4.9.11 you should stick to that, if you choose to update to 4.9.13 be prepared for oddities and frequent upgrades as we hammer down any bugs that we find. It is very likely we'll have one or two updates as soon as tomorrow. If you do choose to run this beta, be sure that we appreciate your efforts. Give it hell, try to break it in any way you can, and have fun !!! The LimeWire dev team |

I appreciate the new efforts toward reduced memory consumption - shows that you care For those who are on os x 10.4 and have an ADC account, the new java update DP2 reduces by a large amount the number of java crashes so far, so if you are a betatester, you might want to use that version of Apple java. I have yet to find if it fixes the VMemory problem on os x though. Ciao

i have not noticed any network disconnections, i dont think i have had that problem. i havent been looking for them either. but i did notice sources seem to be dropping from 14 to 4 throughout the process of downloading. then dropping down to only one at the end of the download (but i think i have always seen it drop to one at the end of the download.) the rest of the dropping of sources were during the whole span of the download process. other than that i can say that i have not noticed any network disconnections, but i will be looking for them now. |

General Observations. Bandwith usage much much better. The only time I've noticed peaks or spikes in bandwith usage is on starting as a UP, or switiching from Leaf to UP. This only last 1 to 2 minutes, which I consider very reasonable. Search results also seem to be about the same now in Leaf and UP, although it does take longer as a UP to reach the same results. Memory usage seems about the same on startup, and slowly increases during d/l and u/l, but stabilizes, and decreases when they have finished. Much improved. Download speeds have returned to there normal of what I expect from multiple and single host, as well as u/l speeds. Just a side note: Raza and BearShare newer version clients also provided reasonable d/l speeds. |

What's the latest Mac beta? I am running 4.9.11. VersionTracker reports a newer, 4.9.12. This forum reports 4.9.13 (though doesn't specify for which platform). The download beta link on my download page has disappeared. An email to LimeWire Pro support remains unanswered for 24 hours. What's the latest version, please, and how do I get it? |
