Browse Host question to lime devs. are the results found while doing a direct connect/browse host downloading it as xml then displaying it as results? or does the host just send results to the client without any xml? i believe that if we used xml to display these results, we can easily add directory support by using the xml structure. the client downloads this xml file from the servent and displays the appropriate content. would it also be faster without putting stress on the client for displaying large libraries? and would it be faster and more efficient this way? limewire is currently freezing when i punch in my own IP and do a backloop and browse host myself. my library seems too big for limewire to efficiently display in its results. (it starts slowing down at around ~1500 results, and totally freezes at around ~3500) so would xml fix these problems? |
The results are returned in gnutella messages. Each message can carry up to 10 results, and each result has an xml fragment associated with it. More info is available at the wiki: http://www.the-gdf.org You can certainly extend that xml to carry some directory information. IIRC Gregorio had such patch submitted some time ago. |
