et voilà is a great assister to others; your light through the dark tunnel
Default 4.9.30 beta

From your beta page you can get 4.9.30.

This version mainly attemps to fix race conditions while switching between UP and leave state (like having 3 UPs as a leaf and some leaves...)

This version also waits you get some uptime before promoting you to UP at LW startup. This is done to increase the network density because there are too much UPs right now.

LW also tries using random port if it is always firewalled on port 6346.

Many languages were also updated.

Well those were the "unofficial" release notes from what I saw in CVS.... Maybe the official will be available tomorrow.

Ciao

merci et voilà

I miss Sam's changelogs and intros to each new release--thanks for helping fill the gap.

Here's what I've noted so far:

--The new code means I'm not needed as an UP, even after running for 14 hrs.
I wonder if it is a good thing for the network to rely more on the T3's that run 24/7--doesn't that give the spammers and "commercial" users more influence over the network

--even the new clients are still getting the "upload limit" problem. I can't access JIRA anymore to see if that bug has gotten any more attention.

*.*.155.116 1,932 KB Upload Limit Reached LimeWire/4.9.28
*.*.155.116 1,932 KB Complete LimeWire/4.9.28

*.*.79.119 1,932 KB Upload Limit Reached LimeWire/4.9.28
*.*.119 1,932 KB Complete LimeWire/4.9.28

--Apple's java VMem still a problem for 10.3.9 users: ran as leaf overnight after the Java update, and VMem for LW still than doubled to 1.03 GB

I'm on a new G4 iBook running 10.4.2, so I won't notice that problem any more I hope

Cheers

With the pending court cases against peer-2-peer networks, wouldn't it be better if there were more UP's than less so the network can be self reliant? Or would they shut down the network anyways? Also what if all those company's with the T3 service on Guntella disconnect when p2p becomes officailly illegal? The there will be no UP's when they are needed most, and futher more taking away UP ablilties from the most people will make them more prone not to leave there computers running. Because I won't, and I have a good connection and I'm not going to leave it running on leaf, that's a big waste of my time and money, also it is a waste of my internet connection and electrcity. It's always better to have more than not enough.
